As you might have guessed up to this point, I have once again been lack in my online writing. My struggle is that I generally write before I start my word day. I come into the office early and spend a few moments plunking out my thoughts and recalling the events that I’ve traversed over the past day.

Lately I haven’t had those quite breaks before I begin my day.

With the number of things that I’ve been working on both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, I feel guilty by spending those free spots I do have writing.

But as you can tell, I have been alive and kicking.

The blog has a new look – a modified theme called Salty that I thought was pretty cool – it still needs some tweaking, but it’ll get there.

I added this really cool tool called fMoblog that allows me to snap a photo with my cell phone and post it right to the blog (it’s a lazy man’s photo journal). Basically its an easy way for me to share what’s going on in a visual fashion, its mostly for Grandma and Grandpa to see Dafyd & Jace, but you can peek into the places I’m at as well. It has made me realize that I need a much better cell phone camera. Now, I know, if I were a real photo journalist I’d use my digital camera and all that, but I honestly I don’t carry it around a whole lot, my cell phone is always with me and it makes the most sense to invest in that.

Now understand that I didn’t take all those pictures in the past month, I used it as an opportunity to clear off my stored photos and put them in a safe place.

We’re still have a great time testing out Legend of the Green Dragon. Feel free to drop in and kill a few monsters, collect some gold and explore some cool places.

Let’s see… since we last talked, what’s been going on:

Hung out with our friends Bobby & Stephanie; they’re always a blast.

Went to Lansing. Hung out with Tom, Nathan (love ya man), and Jason “Hunter Killer” Orton. We eat at Skyline Chili. Bleh. Not my idea of good eats. We had dinner with Michelle’s Mom, Dad & Grandma. Those guys were a total blast and it was nice to get back out to Clara’s in Lansing.

Headed off to Novi for the Motor City Comic Con; so that was pretty exciting. Michelle had never been to one, so I thought this was a good place to introduce her to my geekdom (before I sprung some place like Chicago or San Diego on her). We picked up a few cool things including some signed prints from Don Rosa for the boys (he’s the older guy in the cell phone blog signing stuff). Don Rosa draws Uncle Scrooge and the like for Walt Disney comics. They’re getting framed at Hobby Lobby and I’m still waiting to get the back.

We met up with Jon and his new lass Debbie while we where there. Somehow we made our way over to the Twelve Oaks Mall and did some shopping and had a great time over dinner grilling Debbie at Max & Erma’s. We were all in tears by the time we were done (see, you get some Verners in me and I go way off the deep end).

The next day we all headed into Detroit to watch the Lions game. WOW, that was totally awesome. I have never been to a professional football game and I was just blown away by the sheer size of the thing. I was shouting, cheering, booing, and standing most of the game and I’m not even that big of a fan of the Lions. It was close game, but what an amazing experience.

Michelle and I headed back into Lansing to snag some Jersey Giant’s Subs on the way home (best subs hands down). I also managed a visit to my wonderful friend and profession George Brown and we spent an hour or so chatting about books, plays and movies. It was very good to see him again.

We even managed to stop in Charlotte to see my sister for all of 5 minutes. It was a rather last minute deal as literally I pulled off and headed into town (sometimes the spirit just moves me).

Weekends have been filled with the boys and soccer and that’s been very rewarding. While the season ended last week, we all had a wonderful time and the boys are really maturing in their interaction with others, so that was a good thing to see.

Michelle and I had a chance to take her daughter Danielle out to Eddie Merlot’s for her birthday so that was a nice experience. Danielle and I used to be pretty close, but as she’s gotten older she’s taken a different path then I would have hoped for her and that’s pretty hard for me because I want better for her. I can see glimmers of the seeds that were planted long ago, I just have to keep my mouth shut and hopefully they will take root and bear fruit down the road.

iPod Video

Pretty much other than that its been work, work, work. The new job is keeping me on my toes and providing me with daily opportunities to grow as a department head and as a person. I love that things are always moving forward and that I get to help direct that.

Oh I did break down and buy Michelle one of the new iPod video’s so that’s been a fun toy to play with. First getting my music collection into iTunes and then playing with the video. I love it and I think she does too.

As far as what the month of November holds, well a few short trips for the University, Thanksgiving break (and dinner with the fam). December is right around the corner and that month is going to fly by. Michelle and I are going to take a trip to Nashville for Andrew Peterson’s annual Christmas concert and we’ll spend a few days down there. After that its pretty much break at the Saint Francis and gearing up for the new semester.

So live is good, God is great and all that fun stuff.
