Sick of Snot
I am confident that I am not alone when I say this, “but I hate colds”. I hate being sick. I hate the coughing achy stuffy head fever so I can’t rest medicine.
I hate blowing my nose.
I hate blowing my nose over and over and over again.
I hate the bag of used tissue that piles up beside you.
I hate having a zit on the underside of your nose while you have a cold.
I hate “plop, plop, fizz, fizz”.
I hate the fact that I finally have a three day weekend and the weather is wonderful outside.
A human body should not be physically allowed to produce this much mucus.
However I am grateful that they are few and far between for me.
Did you ever notice that you have little rituals when you’re sick? I am always aware after the fact that I slip into little patterns that I’ve spent my life time accumulating when times of illness arrives.
I get out my blue blanket (the old ratty one I’ve had since I was like 10).
I drink Vernors’ ginger ale.
I like to watch Goonies.
I also never want to be pampered while I am sick, I only want that loving attention when I’m starting to feel better (hey, at least this way I can enjoy it – yeah it drives my wife nuts, but she loves me anyways).
But for now, I’m sick of snot.
