Are You Ready For Some Football?

Well I for one am.

I was never much of a football (that’s American football to all my international readers) fan. I never watched it growing up; my dad never had a favorite team. I never head dreams of going to the super bowl.

Somewhere in my late college years Tom Flammer conned me into playing in his Fantasy Football League. The rest is history. Several super bowl championships later I was hooked on football.

I’ve since moved on from Fantasy Football (I was way too involved and competitive – I’d get bummed if my team lost, and then there was dealing with watching the games with Michelle, but I’ll get into that later). I still don’t know a lot about football, I know players but not much else. I didn’t even have a favorite team, other than my own imaginary one.

This used to cause all sorts of grief in my household. For some God unknown reason, Michelle is a HUGE (and I mean huge) Detroit Lions fan (talk about being a glutton for punishment). So every Sunday, we watch the Lions, which was never a good thing when one of my players was on the opposing team. She used to get so mad at when I cheered for Marcus Pollard to score a touch down (which, I don’t have to worry about now since he’s a Lion – yeah!).

A couple of years ago we got DirecTV and with that the NFL Sunday Ticket. Now week in and week out we watch the Lions (or record them if we are away). Mostly we watch the Lions loose, but Michelle still loves them. But sadly, she’s never had the opportunity to go and see an actual game.

Good news is, I managed to snag tickets to a game this year. Not only did I snag tickets, but I snagged some awesome tickets.

We will be sitting behind the Lions bench on the 30 yard line about 20 rows back. So if you happen to be watching the Lions game on October 16th (verses the Panthers), look really close, you might see us sitting in the stands (Michelle will be the blond one).

So all in all I’m pretty excited. We are going to hit the Motor City Comic Con on Saturday and then the game on Sunday so it should make for a great time. Now lets just hope they win.

While I am more apt to be a Colts fan (well since they win more often and all), these Lions guys are starting to grow on me. Granted they are no Barry Sanders or Herman Moore, but this Kevin Jones guy looks like he can do some running. So happy football everyone.
