Carolina Line
So just before the end of 2004, I decided that I wanted to buy a couple of Christian CDs to get myself back in touch with what’s going on in the indy scene these days. I have a pile that I’ve been going through and I’ll let you know what I think as I go through them.
Of all the ones that I’ve listened to up to this point, this song has been stuck in my head ever since I first heard it and I wanted to share it all with you. This is from Silers Bald, “Real Life.” The MP3 was availible for download from their site (though the link is currently broken, I don’t know if it was a sample or the whole song). For now you can hear the song here.
Carolina Line – Silers Bald
Take me where the ocean rolls
Lead me to the founding soul
Sunlight fall and hit the ground, washing all around
Running to the bottom of
Where sky’s knee-deep in water’s love
All the forces play, the world’s aglow
And I just want to be caught up
Lead me here with questions
Lead me here to find
Lead me to the answers, the killing kind
All this just in time
‘Cause I wanted you to know
I needed you to follow
It’s been so long and I’ll be home tomorrow
It’s been this way for days
And I need to hear you say you miss me
And “Baby, you’ll find your way
To Carolina Line”
So I breathe it in and breathe it out
And you know you’ll never be without
Let the voices stay and lead the way
I’ll be right behind
Live and love and think of me
Don’t you ever wish that you could be
Something more than you already are
Lead me here with questions
Lead me here to find
Lead me to the answers, the killing kind
All this just in time
‘Cause I wanted you to know
I needed you to follow
It’s been so long and I’ll be home tomorrow
It’s been this way for days
And I need to hear you say you miss me
And “Baby, you’ll find, find your way…”
You know I’m gonna see the place you’ve made for me
And all the love that lies in over the horizon
So live and love and think of me
Don’t you ever wish that you could be
Something more than you already are
No you’re nothing more than you already are
And I wanted you to know
I needed you to follow
It’s been so long and I’ll be home tomorrow
It’s been this way for days
And I need to hear you say you miss me
And “Baby, you’ll find that I…”
I wanted you to know
I needed you to follow
It’s been so long and I’ll be home tomorrow
It’s been this way for days
And I need to hear you say you miss me
And “Baby, you’ll find your way
You’re gonna find your way…

well, apples and oranges I’m sure – but Pearl Jam lyrics by Eddie Vedder, such as the following, affect me at some depth, for some reason:
Nothingman
Once divided…nothing left to subtract;
Some words when spoken…can’t be taken back;
Walks on his own…with thoughts he can’t help thinking;
Future’s above…but in the past he’s slow and sinking;
Caught a bolt ‘a lightnin’…cursed the day he let it go;
Nothingman…
nothingman…
isn’t it something?
Nothingman;
She once believed…in every story he had to tell;
One day she stiffened…took the other side;
Empty stares…from each corner of a shared prison cell;
One just escapes…one’s left inside the well;
And he who forgets…will be destined to remember;
Nothingman…
nothingman…
isn’t it something?;
Nothingman.
She don’t want him;
She won’t feed him…after he’s flown away;
Oh, into the sun… into the sun;
Burn…burn..
nothingman;
Nothingman…
isn’t it something?;
Nothingman…
nothingman;
Coulda’ been something…
nothingman…
