Holiday Levity

On a Christmas Eve long ago, Santa was preparing for his yearly trip, but things were going terribly awry. To start things off, the elf labor union had gone on strike due to unfair labor practices, setting the toy-making practice terribly behind schedule.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that Rudolph’s nose had burnt out, while Blitzer had gone and gotten Vixen pregnant. More stress.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her mom was coming to visit. Santa hated his mother-in-law, so this stressed Santa even more.

Stressed and frustrated, Santa went into his house to calm his nerves with some cider and rum. But when he went to the cupboard, he found that his elves had boozed it up the night before, drinking his entire supply of liquor.

Just then the doorbell rang, and irritable Santa trudged to the door. He opened the door, and there hovered a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.

The angel very cheerfully said, “Merry Christmas, Santa! Isn’t it a lovely day? I brought this beautiful tree for you as a Christmas gift. Where would you like me to stick it?”

Thus began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

I pilfered that from BoardGameGeek.com and thought you might enjoy it.
