Bye Week

Well, the Lions were on bye week this week so that freed up some time on Sunday to do something other than watch football. Sadly, Michelle had a pile of home work so I ended up watching… football. However, it was nice to see the Colts play this year. It’s hard watching football, I’ve never been a huge fan or any team. Sports (other than some NASCAR racing) weren’t really part of my childhood. When I played fantasy football I watched all Sunday long, taking notes, going online, changing my roster a dozen times. Now I’m reduced to saying, “Yeah, that guy used to be on my team too.” Honestly though I don’t miss it. I get too consumed by these things. When you start to develop miss placed emotions towards people because of a make believe game, it’s time to move on.

The boys had soccer on Saturday and man was it cold. However the boys had a good time (I think they really don’t care about winning, its more about the candy that follows). Dafyd’s team won 3 to 0, with Dafyd getting his first assist. That brings his team record to 2 – 1. Jace was just killing me on Saturday. Every time his team got to through the ball in, he was right there to be the one to do it. But he really hustled the whole game and I was proud of him. They ended up tying 1 to 1, which brings Jace’s record to 1 – 1 – 2. Not too bad for his first year. Both the boy’s coaches seem to be really good guys and work hard on encouraging their players. After the game I went to Mejier and got some blankets for the next game. It never hurts to be prepared.

Saturday & Sunday I spent part of the day working on a church website for my buddy in Ft. Meyers Florida. I’ve been working with Mike for 6 or 7 years as well and he’s always provided me with free domains and hosting as well. I feel like sometimes I should put, “This site space provided by Global Exchange Technologies“, but since I work for my free space, I guess it isn’t entirely free. The interesting part is that I get to learn about a new denomination, The Unitarian Universalist Church, “Where Religion and Reason Meet”.

The rest of the day was spent unwinding from a long week, did some reading of the Game of Thrones, and caught up on Tivo (which is where yesterday’s blog came from). Somewhere in there I also took a nap for 4 hours.

Sunday was much the same, though we got KFC for lunch. Man, let me tell you I was bummed. We went specifically to get their Game Break deal (or whatever it’s called) where they show those really cool half gallon blue textured coolers. Nada. They give you this large cheap looking cup. Talk about false advertising. Someone’s going to get a nasty email.

Michelle and I also watched the next 5 episodes of Gungrave. Again, the artwork and story are great. I’m amazed at how the Japanese are so fascinated with syndicates and organized crime. We also watched a new animated movie out about Lady Death. I’ve never read a Lady Death comic book, or knew much about the character, but when Michelle and I used to play QUAKE she was always Lady Death and I was the Flash. So I ended up getting it when I saw it at Best Buy. It really was a rather interesting story. Now obviously it’s geared toward a male reader, but underneath the large bosoms is silicone, just kidding, is a story much like Spawn, where a pure innocent person (Hope) is deceived and then uses their powers to fight Satan. However Hope is lost and instead is reborn as Lady Death. It was clever, well written, and the animation was pretty good.

Sadly there isn’t any game nights this week so I think I am going to go through some withdrawal. Perhaps I can talk Brian into some this weekend.

Here’s to a good week.
